Working in the group
What will change and what will not for someone already working in a company that comes into the group, and how to reach us if you would like to work with us.
For those already working in an acquired company
The people who run the business day to day usually continue to run it. We buy companies because of the people in them, not in spite of them.
Does not change
- Your job
- Your contract
- Who runs the company day to day
- The name above the door
- Where you work
- The way of working
Changes
- Who owns the company's capital
- The centre's support in purchasing, systems and insurance
- Paths into other companies in the group, for anyone who wants them
Contracts, continuity and paths
In a purchase of the kind we will make, the employer goes on being the same company. What changes is who owns its capital. Contracts of employment will therefore stay exactly as they are on the day of completion, with the same seniority, the same grade, the same pay and the same conditions, and there will be nothing new to sign and no period starting again. This is not a promise of ours that could be unsaid later. It is what follows from the law when the employing entity stays the same. It is also, and we want this said, what we want: a company like this is worth what the people who work in it are worth.
Nobody will leave because of the acquisition. It is not generosity, it is arithmetic: a company like this is worth what its technicians are worth, and technicians are exactly what the whole market is short of. In practice that will mean three things. There will be no redundancies justified by the sale, neither on the first day nor in the first year. We will not close premises, and we will not merge teams from different companies in order to save money. And we will not bring in administrative services of our own to replace the people already here: when the centre takes over purchasing or insurance, it will be to lift that work off whoever today carries it on top of everything else, and not to take their place.
As there comes to be more than one company in the group, paths will open that a single company cannot offer. Anyone who wants to take a certification, or to learn to do what they do not yet do, will have someone to pay for the training and to give them the time to do it, because those credentials are part of what the company is. Anyone who wants to move region, or to move to a different kind of work, will be able to apply internally before any position is advertised outside. And anyone who wants to lead will have somewhere to grow into, because a group needs supervisors, site managers and directors, and the first person we ask will always be someone from inside. None of this will be compulsory. Anyone who is well where they are stays where they are.
